How we treat the Earth also involves trillions of small decisions made by billions of people. Protecting our planet begins with us.
Here are just a few examples of what you can do:
Reducing, reusing, and recycling Reduce the amount of waste you generate. Conserve natural resources and landfill space by following the three “R’s.”
Volunteer. Participate in community cleanups by volunteering. You, too, can help to protect your watershed.
Educate. You can help others understand the importance and value of our natural resources by furthering your own education.
Water should be conserved. The less water you use, the less runoff and wastewater will end up in the ocean.
Choose a sustainable option.
Shop with caution. Bring a reusable shopping bag and use less plastic.
Make use of long-lasting light bulbs. Light bulbs that use less energy reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Also, remember to turn off the lights when you leave the room!
Consider planting a tree. Trees provide both food and oxygen to the environment. They aid in the conservation of energy, the purification of the air, and the mitigation of climate change.
Don’t dump chemicals into our bodies of water. In the home and office, use non-toxic chemicals.
Ride your bike more. Reduce your driving.
