She said “She was too Busy” to Feed a 10-Month-old Dog When She Was Arrested For Starving Him

They usually say that owning a pet entails a tremendous deal of responsibility, and that individuals who want to adopt pets must be able to care for them. This individual, on the other hand, not only starved her dog but also lied about it in order to avoid accountability.

Alexandria Drew, a 20-year-old woman, brought a 10-month-old puppy to a nearby Animal Services center. She stated she discovered the dog, which she claimed was a stray. Her deception lasted until until the microchip of the dog was examined. She was the dog’s registered owner. That wasn’t the only issue, though.

Richter was 25 pounds when Drew acquired him from a humane society six months ago, but he currently weighs 20 pounds. The dog resembled a sack of bones. Richter had been famished and neglected for a long time. Drew justified her conduct by claiming that she was so busy working that she didn’t have time to care for the puppy and couldn’t pay the $30 surrender fee. She lied to avoid getting into trouble.

“She was off on Wednesdays,” said Lt. Daniel Tutko, who discovered she wasn’t completely useless. On Wednesdays, the shelter where she got the dog gave distributed free food to individuals who couldn’t buy it.” Drew was accused with animal abuse and captivity without adequate nourishment. She was released the following day after paying a $1,000 bond.

It’s still unclear how she paid the bond when she couldn’t even afford $30, but it’s up to you to judge whether this was a reasonable punishment for starving a dog.

Richter, thankfully, recovered from his awful condition and went on to live a healthy and happy life. The good news is that he was adopted by a kind family who will ensure that he is well cared for and that his basic requirements are met.
