“It was an instant connection” ❤️
Maggie’s life had been filled with heartbreak until she met her forever family.
She can’t stop hugging them now.
Mary McCraw and her husband, Mark, had recently lost their rescue dog, Mischka, to cancer. They weren’t sure they wanted to fill that void right away, but then they met Maggie.
McCraw told The Dodo, “She melted my heart.” “We had lost our other dog a few months before meeting Maggie, and in my mind, this was just a meet and greet.” At the time, I didn’t think I was ready for a new dog.”
Maggie’s charm was too much for the McCraws to resist when Halfway There Rescue scheduled the meet and greet.
“I bent down so she wouldn’t be intimidated, and she was in my lap and in my life within seconds,” McCraw explained. “Her story tore us apart. It was love at first sight when I met her; there was an instant connection. We have a feeling she was meant to be with us.”

@pittiesfromheaven This was Demi (now Maggie) meeting her new dad for the very first time. It's like they had known each other for years ❤️😍 this is why we foster. Maggie’s former owners had neglected her and used her for breeding prior to this happy ending. Maggie was placed with a loving foster family where she could regain her strength. She was finally ready for adoption after months of healing.
Andra Mack told The Dodo, “She became one of the sweetest dogs we have ever fostered.” “When Maggie met her new father, my husband and I just stared at each other — because we knew.” It was like something out of a movie.”
Mack knew she’d found the right match the moment she saw Maggie meet the McCraws. Maggie couldn’t stop hugging them as if to express her gratitude.
“They were destined to be together,” Mack explained. “The clear beam of sunlight in the video leads me to believe that their former dog, Mischka, was smiling down on that meeting.”
The McCraws wholeheartedly concur. The rescue of the sweet pit bull transformed their lives.
“Maggie brings joy to everyone she meets and consistently improves our lives,” McCraw said. “It just makes the world a better place to look into those eyes.”
