A young Northern Mockingbird, found injured and grounded, was brought to the Florida Keys Wild Bird Center. Upon examination, it was discovered that the fledgling had several fractured toes, severely impairing his ability to walk.
Determined to give this little bird a chance at recovery, the rehabbers crafted a pair of custom “boots” to support his healing process. These unique, stylish aids not only provided the necessary support but also added a touch of flair to his recovery wardrobe.
After about two weeks, the mockingbird’s feet showed significant improvement. With his fractures mending, he was transferred to a large outdoor enclosure. Here, he began practicing essential skills like perching and flying, crucial for his return to the wild.
Thanks to the dedicated care and innovative solutions from the Florida Keys Wild Bird Center, this young mockingbird is on the path to a full recovery, ready to spread his wings once again.
