Stuckert’s lens captures a poignant snapshot of an 89-year-old tribe chief skillfully hunting with a bow and arrow in a shallow bay, showcasing the resilience ingrained in their way of life. Traveling across regions like Acre, Amazonas, Bahia, and Alagoas, Stuckert documents the efforts of indigenous people engaged in sustainable management projects and reforestation initiatives. These communities actively resist the encroachment of outsiders who exploit the rainforest for profit.

The devastating forest fires of 2020 intensified the threats faced by these tribes, as their very survival relies on the land now at risk. Stuckert’s photography, part of his ‘Brazilian Indians Project,’ aims to shed light on the challenges these indigenous communities confront, emphasizing the importance of their role as guardians of the forest.
