Most of us would go to great lengths for our dogs, especially if they are in distress. Liam Thompson went so far as to construct a house elevator for his canine companion. Frodo, his 20-year-old orange cat, was having difficulty climbing and descending the steep outside stairs that led to his favorite sunbathing location. Thompson decided to make things easy for his elderly cat by constructing an ingenious device that would securely transport the kitty up and down the flight of stairs, and he documented the entire process on YouTube.
A little box-shaped cart travels up and down a set of tracks in the handmade cat elevator. An electric hoist controls the entire equipment, which raises and lowers the platform. The house elevator, aside from being the funniest and cutest thing imaginable, is certainly a tremendous assistance for Frodo because he no longer needs to limp up and down those steps every day. However, this isn’t the first bespoke gadget Thompson has created for Frodo. He’s also created a Roomba Chariot (which is exactly what it sounds like) and an unique cat train for the walking-averse cat.
And Thompson has the ideal retort for anyone who thinks all of this is a little much for a cat. “I LIKE SPOILING MY CAT SUE ME,” the YouTuber sarcastically captioned the video. But who can blame him for treating his cat as if he were a prince?
