The reason why touched her heart ❤️️

Jolie Meja and her family decided to visit Punta Negra, a small seaside community near their home in Peru, the other day.

They came to learn a story of love in its purest form along a rocky shore overlooking the sea.

After Meja and her family had settled down along the shore, they were approached by an unidentified dog who appeared to be on his own.

“He didn’t appear to be abandoned. “He had a ribbon around his neck and clean fur,” Meja told The Dodo. “I pet him while waiting for his owner, but no one came.”

The dog enjoyed Meja’s pets, but his gaze was always fixed on the ocean.

And Meja soon discovered the heartwarming reason why.

Meja and her family contemplated adopting the dog themselves, assuming he had been abandoned. So, when a local walked by, Meja asked him if he knew what happened to the dog.

“He explained that almost everyone in the area knows the dog and adores him,” Meja said. “He said the dog’s owner was a fisherman who died some time ago, and that the dog comes to the beach every day and stares out to sea.”

The dog appears to have been keeping vigil, anticipating the return of his friend who will never return.

“We were very moved,” Meja said.

Meja believes the dog’s owner died at sea about a year ago and that the dog has been looking for him on a daily basis since then.

But, even if the dog’s owner never returns, he is not without friends who care for him.

People in the community are obviously aware of the dog’s tragic story, as they feed him, shelter him, and provide him with medical care when he requires it.

The dog’s name is Vaguito, according to a local veterinarian in Punta Negra, and he’s currently in the care of a woman who lives nearby.

By the end of the day, Meja and her family had parted ways with Vaguito, his eyes still cast out to sea. But his bittersweet story — one of loyalty to a lost love and the loyalty and love he found in the community — is one she will never forget.

“I have a dog,” Meja explained. “In general, I adore dogs. “His story had a profound impact on me.”
