Man Snaps a Selfie With a Cute Quokka, Who Later Follows Him

Campbell Jones, then 21 years old, went biking with his girlfriend on Rottnest Island in 2017. Rottnest, an island off the coast of Western Australia, is well known for its picturesque seashore scenery, comfortable climate, and a variety of species, particularly its native quokka population. The quokka is regarded as “the happiest animal on Earth” because to its endearing grin and curious nature. Jones now understands why after running across one on the bike trail.

Jones stopped his bicycle when he saw the intriguing species so he could take a picture with his GoPro. The adorable quokka was delighted to take photos and even smiled for a selfie. However, it soon became apparent that the cheeky marsupial wasn’t quite ready to say goodbye as Campbell wrapped up the impromptu picture shoot and turned to depart. The quokka pursued me as I walked back to my bike, he told Perth Now, a publication in Western Australia. When I set the GoPro down, it leaped at me and appeared to be calling for me to return. For our benefit, Campbell managed to get a stunning photo of the friendly quokka mid-leap, which he then posted on Instagram.

Jones isn’t the first visitor to Rottnest Island to snap a photo with the cute creatures. The cute animals aren’t overly afraid of people because they don’t have many natural predators. As a result, they are quite accessible and welcome visitors to Rottnest Island who are prepared to take pictures, such as Jones and “animal whisperer” Allan Dixon. It appears like a vacation to Rottnest Island is in order!

Campbell Jones and his girlfriend embarked on a bike ride on Rottnest Island.

While they were cruising along the coast, they came across a friendly quokka.

Naturally, Campbell stopped to snag a quick quokka selfie.

As he turned to leave, however, the creature chased him, begging him not to go.

Never underestimate the love between man and quokka!
