As Water Levels Drop, A Third Human Body is Discovered In Lake Mead

Dead bodies emerging from shrinking lakes have finally got mob bosses worried about climate change.

A fourth body has been found close to Lake Mead in Nevada, increasing the total number of bodies found here since May to three.

The remains were discovered at Swim Beach in Lake Mead at about 4:30 p.m. local time on Monday, July 25, according to a recent notification from the National Park Service.

Authorities have called the Clark County Medical Examiner to ascertain the cause of death, and they have stated that “the inquiry is ongoing,” but not many further specifics have been disclosed.

Following rumors of a body in a barrel caught in the lake’s now-visible muck, authorities discovered the first set of human remains on May 1. According to an inquiry, the victim died from a gunshot wound. They believe the victim was slain between the middle of the 1970s or the beginning of the 1980s based on their attire and shoes, but they are unsure of their identity.

On May 7, a second body was discovered, adding to the mystique. The discovery of human remains on a recently formed sandbar in Calville Bay within Lake Mead’s recreational area was made by two sisters who were paddleboarding on the lake.

The largest reservoir in the US in terms of water capacity is Lake Mead, which is located just east of Las Vegas.

There was considerable conjecture that the bones may have belonged to someone who crossed the mafia given the association between organized crime and the Las Vegas Strip. The mob’s methods were claimed to be particularly evocative of the corpse in the barrel, however this has not yet been verified.

One former mafia associate in Vegas even claimed that some of his customers had indicated interest in “climate control” after learning that reductions in lake and reservoir water levels may uncover the remains of former adversaries who were now dormant.

This year has been exceptionally scorching due to the southwest US’s greatest “megadrought” in 1,200 years. The levels of Lake Mead have been decreasing for several decades due to warmer temperatures and dry weather connected to the climate catastrophe, leaving the reservoir, according to reports, only 38 percent full by late April 2021.

This year, the waters have further diminished, exposing the buried mysteries that lay beneath the murky lakebed. The first corpse was discovered in a location that, according to the Las Vegas police, was formerly submerged beneath several feet of water, they reported in May.

The NASA Earth Observatory published satellite photographs earlier this month that demonstrate how Lake Mead water levels are at the lowest they have been since April 1937.

While photographs from 2021 and 2022 show the lake getting narrower and lighter in color, indicating the water is less deep, the image from July 2000 depicts a full lake that is a deep shade of blue. Recent satellite photographs also display light-colored fringes along the shorelines, or “bathtub lines,” which NASA describes as mineralized regions where the water formerly existed.

The destruction of Lake Mead is a concerning “canary in the coal mine” for the rest of the world’s climatic problem, in addition to frightening Vegas crime leaders.
