Rare Mongolian Wolf Pups Were Photographed

Rare footage of Mongolian wolf pups caught in camera traps has been released.

National Geographic has released video of the rare animals in their native Mongolia’s breathtaking surroundings.

The Mongolian wolf is also referred to as the Tibetan wolf or as the Canis Lupus Chanco subspecies of the Gray Wolf. It typically only weighs approximately 45 kg, making it a smaller wolf than its cousin, the Gray wolf.

Because of its thick undercoat, it is also known as the Woolly Wolf. It is indigenous to Central Asia and can be found in Turkestan, Tibet, Mongolia, northern China, Kashmir, the western Himalayas, and even the Korean peninsula.

Currently, the region is home to roughly 70,000 Mongolian wolves. These wolves typically wander in groups of 2 or 3, rather than big packs.

Because they can’t move through the deep snow in the winter, they will also hunt goats and sheep if they are present. They eat hares primarily throughout the year and marmots in the summer.

It looks similar to the Eurasian Wolf, but with shorter legs. However, its muzzle is nearly identical to that of the Eurasian wolf. Additionally, it has stunning gold eyes that are incredibly intriguing and appear to see right through you.

Some researchers believe that the Mongolian or Tibetan wolf is the domestic dog’s most likely ancestor. This is due to its small stature and unique mandibular morphology; it should be noted that other Gray wolf subspecies do not have the highest portion of the lower jaw bent backward like the Mongolian wolf and dog do.
