When frightened, a sloth will revert to its baser instincts. And this is exactly what the Ecuadorian traffic cops discovered. On this memorable day in 2016, people witnessed Ecuadorian traffic officers rescuing a tree-hugging animal that had clung to a highway guardrail. According to media reports, the unfortunate man was attempting to enter the city of Quevedo.
But it was terrified because it was so far away from its natural habitat. That’s why it clung to the guardrail for dear life. It had clung to the guardrail at the Comision de Transito del Ecuador until the traffic police arrived to rescue it.
THE SLOTH MISSED THE FACT THAT IT WASN’T IN A MOVIE SET.
According to a transit commission spokesperson, the sloth was attempting to cross the road when it was discovered. Officials from the police station stated on their Facebook page that the animal was then evaluated by veterinarians.
It was then safely released back into the wild. We all know that these animals are among the slowest on the planet. In fact, they are so slow that algae has grown on them. If we were to compare these two sentences, a sloth crossing the street would probably not be the best option.
Can we truly blame the sloth? After all, it had only decided to leave because its home was being destroyed by humans. They are perfectly content to live out their days in the treetops. However, rapid deforestation has made it difficult for them.
However, the sloth will gain popularity. These slow animals have entered mainstream pop culture as a result of their appearance in the latest sequel to Zootopia. Given the sloth’s preference for trees, we can be certain that it will not leave its natural habitat.
