Dog Found After Years of Being Lost Is Overjoyed To Be With His Best Friend

Earlier this month, volunteers at this animal shelter in Ukraine took in a sizable stray dog with blue eyes who was obviously not having a good time living on the streets. His malnourished body and scraggly coat gave away the many struggles he’d gone through.

The dog already had a home, but rescuers were determined to find him a new, happy one. And he was terribly missed by that person.

On the day the dog arrived, a picture of him was taken and put online to attract prospective adopters.

Given his state and the length of time needed to restore his health, it might not have seemed likely that the poor dog would attract much attention, but the sadness in his eyes touched people.

The post was shared hundreds of times by people all over the world in a matter of hours.

The difference was entirely due to those social media shares.

Two days later, a woman whose dog had been taken from her yard in 2017 contacted the animal shelter. She was astounded by how strikingly similar that dog looked to her missing pup after receiving the post from the shelter.

Galina Lekunova, who works at the shelter, told us that the woman had been looking for her dog for two years. But is he really this?

A meeting was scheduled for the following day to confirm the suspicion, and it was soon clear that it was in fact a reunion. An emotional one at that:

“Tears of joy in the morning!” the shelter wrote of that moment, calling the reunion a “miracle.”

The dog, whose name is Lord, had waited so long for that day to come. He was finally back where he belongs — with help of strangers who insisted on spreading the word about him online.

“We thank everyone who shared our post,” the shelter wrote. “Thanks to you that the dog’s life was saved, and peace returned to his owner’s soul!”
