At first glance, you might be forgiven for thinking this incredible picture is a scene from fantasy epic Game of Thrones

As if polar bears weren’t cool enough before, they now breathe FIRE.

At first glance, you might be forgiven for thinking this incredible picture is a scene from fantasy epic Game of Thrones.

But on sober reflection, you probably worked out it’s simply the magnificent beast’s breath in the cold air capturing the Arctic sun.

Photographer Josh Anon was on a small boat 82 degrees north at the edge of the ice pack that defines the North Pole region when he came across a bear with a fresh kill.

The 33-year-old, from San Francisco, California, USA, was only about 15m from the polar bear.

He told us: “We were fortunate enough to find bears on a fresh kill the day before: one bear was protecting his kill from another bear, and the two of them made great subjects.

“The next morning, we had an unexpected wake up call around 4am that the bears were still outside.

“Over the next three to four hours, we were able to spend more time with the bears and two more even joined in.”
