Tears as Video of Dog Getting ‘Soaked in the Rain’ Viewed Over 77M Times

In a poignant video that has touched the hearts of over 77 million viewers, a woman shared the distressing sight of her neighbor’s dog left out in the rain without any shelter. The emotional clip, posted on TikTok by Julina Cabugao (@jholynaa) on December 6, has not only stirred widespread concern but also prompted positive changes for the furry protagonist, Milo.

As rain poured down over Mandaue City, Philippines, Cabugao couldn’t help but notice Milo braving the storm without adequate cover. Despite the dog being well-fed and seemingly healthy, the visual of Milo getting soaked struck a chord with Cabugao, leading her to take action.

Speaking to Newsweek, Cabugao revealed that she approached Milo’s owners, expressing her sadness and urging them to provide shelter for the canine during inclement weather. The heartfelt plea didn’t fall on deaf ears, as the owners responded by constructing a new shelter for Milo to shield him from the elements.

The heart-wrenching video carried a powerful message, encapsulated in Cabugao’s caption: “If you can’t love a dog like a family member, don’t get one.” The plea resonated with millions, resulting in an outpouring of concern, sadness, and even anger from viewers.

Recognizing the need for responsible pet ownership, Cabugao emphasized that dogs, even those who enjoy the outdoors, require protection from harsh weather conditions. Hill’s Pet Nutrition advises pet owners to ensure their furry companions have a place to retreat to during extreme weather, emphasizing that leaving them unattended for extended periods, especially overnight, is not a viable solution.

Following the video’s viral success, Cabugao provided updates on Milo’s improved living conditions. The dog now enjoys the comfort of a new shelter and is allowed inside more regularly. Viewers were relieved to learn that Milo’s well-being is being prioritized, and he is now fed and cared for by his owners.

The TikTok post generated over 158,400 comments, showcasing the collective concern and empathy of the online community. Many expressed their heartbreak at witnessing a dog left in the rain, underscoring the shared sentiment that animals deserve better treatment.

In a testament to the positive impact of social media, Cabugao’s video not only raised awareness but also instigated tangible change for Milo, reminding us all of the collective responsibility we share in ensuring the well-being of our animal companions.
