“I had no idea Marley was there until she moved” 😂
Marley has always been a lap cat since her family adopted her from a local animal shelter. She’s never been one to hide like other cats — she’d rather be right in your face, where she can get all the attention.
“Before he came into our lives, Marley was a therapy cat who would visit seniors’ homes,” Marley’s family member Bonnie Quast told The Dodo. “Marley is a very laid-back cat who is also very affectionate. Her favorite pastime is to sit on our laps, [lick] our faces, and drool on us. You never leave this cat empty-handed.”
Quast was recently chatting with her mother, Debra Reid, at the kitchen table. After a while, Quast realized that Marley was also with them — but she hadn’t noticed her until that moment.
Marley had been sitting on her mother’s lap, her favorite spot, but Quast hadn’t noticed her because she was so well disguised by Reid’s shirt. Her eyes were even perfectly aligned with the collar pattern. Marley is apparently a pretty good hider after all.
“I had no idea Marley was there until she moved because she was so well disguised,” Quast explained. “So I decided to photograph it.”
Quast thought the entire situation was hilarious and wanted to share it with the rest of the world. She shared the photo online, and it turns out that no one else recognized Marley right away.
Marley wasn’t even trying to hide or make a joke. She was curled up on the lap of someone she cares about, as she always is. No one in her family thought she was particularly good at hiding, but she appears to have a natural talent for it. Who would have guessed?
