A kangaroo Kicks A Paraglider Landing In The Face, And It’s All Caught On Camera

A new video captures the amusing yet absolutely terrifying moment a paraglider encounters a human-sized, fist-throwing kangaroo.

Jonathan Bishop was paragliding across the country’s southeast for nearly two hours when he started to descend at the Orroral Valley tracking station, a NASA facility 50 kilometers (31 miles) south of Canberra and home to Earth-orbiting satellites.

Bishop claims the landing site was the only cleared valley where he could safely land, as seen on video by his helmet camera.

He explained in the caption of the YouTube video, “I was focused on the landing and didn’t notice the kangaroo until after I landed.

The overly aggressive kangaroo then charges directly into the paraglider while displaying what we can only presume is utter rage in his eyes. The marsupial then confronts Bishop while standing in a manner that would make Mike Tyson pleased.

“I said, “What’s up, Skip,” thinking it was being friendly as it raced toward me. The creature then attacked me again before fleeing, he said, adding that he had to pack up his paraglider and walk a distance to acquire phone service so he could call a friend to come pick him up.

Since then, more than a million people have watched the now-viral film.

A huge male kangaroo can weigh up to 90 kilograms and grow as tall as 2 meters (6.5 feet) (200 pounds). Even though a one-on-one attack could seem amusing at first, things can go serious very quickly. The four kangaroo species are all native to Australia, and there are an estimated 50 million of them on the continent, which is twice as many as there are people.

According to National Geographic, the beloved national symbol is now largely viewed as a pest because to its propensity for destroying crops, endangering the agricultural sector, and being involved in more than 80% of vehicle-animal collisions annually. Human expansion and development are continuing to encroach on wild areas, pitting people and animals against one another and, occasionally, posing a threat to human life.

Last year, a kangaroo attacked an Australian couple who fed wild kangaroos on their property, but their son saved them by hitting the kangaroo with a sizable piece of wood. Similar to this, a gripping 2016 video captures the moment an Australian hunter hit a kangaroo in the skull to free his dog from a headlock.

Bishop closes the video by saying, “F*cking Kangaroos.”
