“He immediately jumped in my lap and was dying for love.”
Capone had nowhere to go, so he slept overnight under a covered area adjacent to an office building. The lonely and scared 2-year-old stray cat wondered how long he’d have to wait amid a mound of rubbish before somebody came to assist.
Fortunately, a few passersby noticed and intervened, saving the day – and Capone’s life.
“For a few days, the employees across the street from where he was found started noticing him,” Meagan Licari, rescuer from Puppy Kitty NYCity, told The us. “They say he wouldn’t move from his specific place and was so afraid he couldn’t eat.”
Capone was terrified, but he immediately let Licari pet him while cat meowed gratefully.
“You could tell he wasn’t a street cat,” said Licari. “He was absolutely matted, and his ears were infected.”
Licari wasn’t going to abandon Capone, but the only thing she had was a dog carrier. She gambled in the hopes of bringing Capone to safety.
“He leapt in my lap and was dying for affection,” Licari explained. “It was incredible because I knew how terrified he was.” He is the most kind and loving boy – a lap cat to the core.”
Capone’s rescue may be seen here:
Licari was surprised and relieved when Capone voluntarily walked inside the carrier on his own.
“There is no better feeling than witnessing cats go from resting in a rubbish dump to living in a nice condo in NYC,” Licari remarked. “It is what motivates me to keep going.”
Capone joyfully settled into his new home after being rescued, where he no longer had to lie on the rough outer ground.
“He’s doing fantastic now,” Licari added. “He has now been adopted and lives a spoiled life.”
