A Desperate Farmer Begs His Horse To “Don’t Die,” And The Mare’s Reaction Breaks His Heart

Nothing is more upsetting than witnessing our loved ones suffer.

When his horse suffered a tragic accident and it seemed all hope was lost, a farmer by the name of Marek felt exactly these kinds of feelings of dread and helplessness. She was gradually perishing.

Marek Slodkowski, a farmer in a rural region of Poland, runs his own farm. He heard a wail coming from within one day as he was walking by his garage.

He was shocked to see that one of his horses, Freedom, had broken out from her stall and was now inside the garage, where her weight had shattered the hardwood floorboards. She was now defenseless and imprisoned within a large crate in his garage.

And she was unable to stand up.

Time running out

To get Freedom closer to the edge of the ground, Marek first tried to fill the pit with hay.

However, the mare was simply too worn out to stand up by herself. Marek called the nearby fire department after becoming extremely alarmed, and soon a team of courageous and sympathetic firefighters arrived.

Close to death

They worked together to hoist the horse by putting fire hoses beneath her belly. However, their repeated attempts at rescue were unsuccessful.

Everyone was starting to understand that time was of the essence. The mare had clearly been locked there for hours because of how exhausted she was.

Marek, who was visibly upset, observed as Freedom progressively started to lose hope that she would ever be freed from her dreadful fate.

The farmer comforted his friend by sitting down next to her. He muttered, “Everything will be all right,” adding the painful phrase, “Don’t die, don’t die.”

12-hour battle

Then, something transpired that caused Marek to start crying.

In a last-ditch effort to escape the pit, Freedom managed to muster the power to raise herself to her front legs.

After a painful and exhausting 12 hours of being trapped in the pit, the firemen hurried over to her in an effort to support her last-ditch efforts.
