Firefighters Rescue 8 Labrador Puppies From a Drain Before Realizing They Are Not Dogs At All

Animal rescue can be challenging and often stressful.

The animal in question might occasionally become uncomfortably trapped. In the worst scenarios, baby animals have managed to elude their mothers and ended up in incredibly small spaces, oftentimes a tree or a thorny bush.

People who are persistent, precise, and careful are required in these uncomfortable circumstances.

Perhaps this explains why firefighters frequently succeed in freeing trapped animals.

Bakers Police Department

When fire captain Brian Vaughan last week received an alert call, he saw the importance right away.

Eight pups of a small black dog had been discovered trapped in a gutter. The caller thought that their black Labrador puppies’ owners had dumped a litter of them in the pipe.

The animals were all successfully removed from the drain 20 minutes after the fire brigade arrived. They were taken to the Humane Rescue Organization in the Pikes Peak Area after they appeared to be unharmed.

People didn’t realize they hadn’t actually saved any puppy dogs until that point. The black puppies had actually changed into a bundle of red.

Vaughan told CBS in Denver that “one of the vets at the place said: ‘No, these are not labradors, they’re foxes.

Foxes are very prevalent in the regions bordering the Rocky Mountains, which is where this litter was discovered.

The call was made to the firemen, according to Travis Sauder, Colorado Parks and Wildlife District Manager, who told CBS4 that he is not surprised. not even the fact that the foxes were initially located.

These firefighters in rescued what they thought were puppies from a storm drain… but it turns out they're red foxes!

The majority of animals are beginning to give birth at this time of year, and they do so in little dens that we can come across while enjoying outdoor recreation, according to Sauder.

The foxes will be returned to the pipe, according to Sauder, with the anticipation that their mother will show up and take care of them.

“We’re going to return these animals to the spot where we found them in the hopes that the mother is still around and can carry out the necessary care as she normally would. We can take kids to a recognized rehab facility if the mother is no longer around, Sauder said.

Misunderstandings involving wildlife like this are not uncommon, so it’s always better to call an expert to identify the animal in question before trying to act yourself. Sadly, good intentions can sometimes make things worse for wild animals in cases such as this one.

Hopefully these fox cubs will be reunited with their mother before too long. Like and SHARE if you love animals of all kinds!

I don’t understand at all why they would be returned to the drain after they had to be rescued by a whole brigade of firefighters. Is someone going to make sure the mother comes back, or are they going to be left to starve and die if she doesn’t? This makes no sense at all to me, and seems cruel.
