Army Sergeant Webb was deployed when she came across a stray puppy in need of assistance.
Sergeant Webb couldn’t stomach watching the thin black and brown puppy struggle since she was the weakest among a group of strays. She got right in and began caring for the puppy, which she named PupPup, as well as her other chores.
When Webb’s trip finished earlier than intended, she was scared she’d have to abandon PupPup. The two had built an exceptional attachment after caring for the dog for so long.
Webb contacted Paws of War, a non-profit that assists active military troops in bringing rescued animals back to the United States, in the hopes of assisting PupPup.
Webb wrote to Paws of War, “I’m anxiously begging Paws of War to help me get my precious, vulnerable PupPup back to America with me because I can’t bear the thought of leaving her behind.” “This area may be quite dangerous for dogs, and I’m afraid she’ll perish if she’s left there.” Furthermore, we have developed such a close friendship that means the world to me. I can’t ignore her and would be eternally thankful for any assistance in getting her home.”
PupPup’s cause was quickly taken up by Robert Misseri, a cofounder of Paws of War. Misseri told The Dodo, “We got on the ground when [Webb] was still serving.” “We knew we just had a week and a half to obtain PupPup since she was going in a week and a half.”
They took PupPup to a veterinarian to get vaccinated, and then arranged for her to be quarantined in a foster home until she could leave the country. PupPup was finally allowed to board an aircraft to her new life after four canceled flights.

When PupPup arrived safely, Webb couldn’t believe he was seeing things.
“She didn’t believe it until she got there,” Misseri explained. “She’s phoned and contacted me every day since, saying she still can’t believe PupPup is with her. She stated that leaving PupPup there would have been extremely difficult for her.”
Sergeant Webb and PupPup have resumed their relationship and are overjoyed to be back together.
“They’ve become inextricably linked,” Misseri explained.
