“He always picks it up when he gets excited and wiggles his little butt.”
Liz Andersen knows her dog, Captain, is content when he grabs his tiger toy.
Since he was a puppy, the 1-and-a-half-year-old golden retriever has been enamored with plush tigers.
“He had our daughter’s white tiger, which he claimed as his own,” Andersen told The Dodo. “Of course, he destroyed it, but my daughter had this orange tiger, and he kept taking it — so it’s now his.”
“He takes it everywhere!” “When he gets aroused and wiggles his little butt,” Andersen explained. “It’s his best friend.”
So, when Captain’s family relocated from California to Denver, Colorado, the much-loved toy tiger accompanied them. Andersen couldn’t wait for her dog to enjoy everything Colorado has to offer, especially the snow.
She wasn’t disappointed as fluffy white snowflakes began to fall into the yard. Captain was astounded by what he was witnessing.
“He just sorta glanced around at it and, of course, tried to take a little piece of it,” Andersen explained. “But he just stood there, enthralled.”
Andersen was taken aback when Captain knocked on the door, but he quickly grasped why: he wanted to share the rare moment with his pet tiger.
“[He] grabbed his tiger and raced back out, racing around,” Andersen explained.
Captain understands that everything tastes better when shared with someone you care about. And Captain’s family feels the same way about him.
“He has truly completed our family,” Andersen remarked. “He is a shining light who is always there for everyone.” We have an autistic son, and he always goes to him for comfort. He’s the best son we could have asked for.”
Captain can’t wait for the next snow day, and he’s prepared with his plush tiger.
